I had a nasty fall, snowboarding in early April this year, bruised shoulder rotator and ribs (elbow impact). I shopped around for protective gear and found Amazon had the best price for this product. Honestly, it hasn't been field tested yet but this is what I've gathered from test fitting the product: 1) The pads are rather thin and I have to put faith on the "hex" pattern to disperse any future impact. Maybe a thin plastic shell might have been better; 2) I normally wear XL size shirts and this XL size was still a tight fit around the shoulders and chest area, 3) It's hot, a nice replacement for thermals but not a good idea for summertime sports. On moisture-wicking clothes, it's generally not recommended to let sweat dry off on this material, so I plan on wearing a light t-shirt underneath, which might warm up things even more. It would've been nice to have a zippered front, to allow maximum ventillation, so if it gets really bad, I might just split it down the front. On the positive side, 1) It provides a large area of protection, 2) Price is reasonable and 3) Has a very low profile. If you're looking for protection against more direct impact, such as ski poles, trees, hockey sticks, I'd recommend another product, otherwise, it fits my need for blunt force impact on the sides.The McDavid Hexpad Soccer Goal Keeper shirt arrived in a very expeditious manner in pristine condition. I am learning how to use a BO Staff as instructed "Holding a bo and the striking points" is very instructional by Master Hempev at [...] The 4th video shows what happens when one misses ..rather painful for beginner (that's me) and that is where the McDavid Hexpad Soccer Goal Keeper shirt really helps. It stops me from becoming timid in my strokes by cushioning the full force of the Staff when impacting my fore arms and upper shoulder. Because if you are going to hit something, don't kiss it- kick its ass. Therefore the 5 star rating. Probably would help those learning other impacting sports. OH and Thank God for the rib cage padding for when I forget to use proper form.. ROFHMAO... Hey at 70 years old I bruise easily.... Why use a staff instead of a cane? Reach !At first i was sceptical about this shirt, but when i tried it works like it is supposed to do. As a beginner snowboarder i am taking falls very often and this shirt is performing really well! It absorbs much of the damage and i do not feel almost anything. It offers protection for the ribs and the whole arm (from shoulder until just before where the wrist is). It is very confortable and after a while you are forgeting that you are wearing it. The only downside is that it has a particular smell that it does not seem to go away. I have washed it a couple of times and there has been some minor improvement :) This is a must buy for beginners and not only.Really a 4 1/2 star!! Bought a small for my 4'11" ten year old daughter, fit her kind of big but great investment in the long run. Only con/wish that a came with a chest protection as well but overall a great addition if your soccer player dives a lot. McDavid chest protection is sold separately but I would suggest the McDavid compression shorts.I love the way they look. the padding is in the right spot everywhere except the elbows. It is a little tight, but form-fitting is a requirement. it could stand to be a little bigger.My wife purchased this for me as a gift. I have used it twice now to play keeper indoors in an adult soccer league. Here are my initial thoughts:The padding feels a little restrictive even once you get it adjusted right, but it was not an issue while I was playing.The pads stay put for the most part and don't need adjustment during play.The padding offers great protection from impact and turf burn.I've worn mcdavid thud shorts for a few seasons too and they also perform well.The shirt is HOT. Erwartungen übertroffen, mein Sohn trägt es gerne und oft.... der Preis ist nicht der niedrigste jedoch übertrifft die Qualität meine Erwartungen
